Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedy deleted as being recently created, having no relevant page history and duplicating an existing English Wikipedia topic, because... (This topic needs to be published and is different from other mineral articles. There are many methods mentioned and mineral testing is a different field of study completley which is taught in my class and is very helpful.) --81.104.161.113 (talk) 20:53, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Eat Test vs Taste Test vs Hardness?[edit]

Thanks for sorting out my article. The eat test is simliar to the hardness test but is different because your only useing your teeth and not a range of tools to determine the hardness. I am a geologist and i think eat is a term used more in Britain and Bite is used in other places it depends which part of the world you are. This was mostly used during early gold exploration to tell the difference between pyrite and gold but some people may still use this simple method. The taste test means the actual specific taste without using the teeth. This can be also know as the lick test but the taste test sounds better.
