Statistics for every country available[edit]

I have changed table dimentions for optimizing free space. I think the article does not look good when all the tables are different. So I suggest to modify all the tables so that they to be common. Ukraine has 5 mobile operators in GSM standart. So there is big competition between them. Population in Ukraine is more than 45 million people, but prices are one of the smallest in Europe. For example operator life:), 0 eurocents (free) for network calls and 10-15 eurocents for national calls. Others have approximative the same prices.Dima1 08:49, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sources for subscriber numbers and percentages?[edit]

Where are these figures sources? I am curious when percentage are exceed 100%. Is the percentage related somehow to the total population of country, or is it some spurious figure derived from a marketing target? Stellar 11:42, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The percentage refers to the mobile phone penetration rate of a country. The penetration rate is equal to the total number of mobile subscribers expressed as a percentage of the total population. So, if a country with a population of 2 million had 3 million mobile phone subscribers, its penetration rate would be 167%. Ronline ✉ 05:59, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Consistent voice/data technology used[edit]

The info in the technology column should be consistent throughout the entire list; e.g. <underlying_technology> ( <list_of_data_technologies> (if any data services offered) ): GSM (GPRS, EDGE) UMTS (HSDPA, HSUPA) CDMA2000 (1xRTT, EV-DO Rev.X) NMT

This format looks better than the current table.
The GSM parenthetical could also contain Evolved EDGE in cases where it becomes available.
The UMTS parenthetical could also contain HSPA+, UMTS-FDD, UTRA-TDD HCR, UTRA-TDD LCR, Super-Charged, etc in cases where non-HSPA UMTS is provided (Are there cases like this? The table seems to suggest there are).

Number of subscribers issues: 1. Numbers appear innacurate (e.g. 16,696 in million is 16 billion) table needs correction if so. 2. Kosovo[edit]

Kosovo is neccessary to be placed in normal country order and defined in map according to its penetration statistics. In other side Kosovo mobile network operators Vala 900 and IPKO does not use a Serbia country code +381 but uses country codes of Monaco (Vala 900) and Slovenia (IPKO), do you think that shall be mentioned as well? Hungary's virtual mobile operators[edit]

Hungary does not have any Mobile Virtual Network Operators. By definition, VNO is a company that has a contract with a network operator and does everything by itself. The best way to examine the matter is to investigate which company bills you the minutes, which company sends you every month your bill. In Hungary, Djuice does sell mobile service on behalf of Telenor and Magyar Posta does sell mobile service on behalf of Vodafone, but that's all, support and billing is done by Telenor and Vodafone, respectively. They are just rebranding and reselling it. I think mentioning those is worth, but not under the virtual network operator title. Just name it resellers. Use of affilliates sim cards in network locked mobiles[edit]

It is not widely known that you can use an affilliates sim card in a network locked mobile. An O2 locked mobile will take a Tesco sim. A Vodafone locked mobile will take an Asda sim. But a Tesco locked mobile will not accept an O2 sim! Many Non-MVNO listed as MVNO under Germany[edit]

The list of operators in Germany is largely wrong. Many of the names shown are only reseller brands which lead to a contract directly with the network operator. For example in the cases of FYVE or ProSieben Mobile the actual contract partner is Vodafone Germany itself, so e.g. ProSieben is NOT the "owner" as listed. -- 2001:470:730A:0:219:66FF:FE03:E48 (talk) 18:38, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Belgium mistake[edit]

The number of customers for Proximus in Q1 2013 is 5.364 million. However this is NOT a comparable number to that the other two companies provide. Footnote 2 on page 16 of the Belgacom document reads 'Mobile active customers including mobile customers Luxembourg, and including mobile data cards'.

The correct number appears to be on page 23 of the Belgacom document, where it is stated 'End Q1’13 Mobile customer base of 3,561,000 cards'.

It's imperative that for any comparison to hold ground, everything is about:

-the same territory, -the same product (not data cards for example), and -the same data (MVNOs should or shouldn't be included for everybody).

Hi Friends, I really hope your good selves or someone honest enough from Wikipedia can add a correct entry. I live with students and we share the same PC One of my students made a correction on the page entitled List Of Mobile Network Operators In Europe however after it was deleted? She was rude to the person that removed it calling him uneducated and ignorant. Obviously I didn't approve. I myself then made the correction and listed the facts that one of my students left me to copy and paste. I verified them myself and once again the entry was removed without any logic. Below I have listed why a nation that physically starts off in the Balkans in Europe to it's West, founded nearly 100 years ago as a Secular, Western, European Democracy should be allowed it's rightful place in The List Of Mobile Network Operators In Europe... As a School Teacher of Geography, I'm sure your good selves were also taught in school that both Russia & Turkey are European nations, Transcontinental whose Western Territories are in Europe & Eastern Territories are in the case of Russia, Eurasia stretching as far as China but in Turkey's case Anatolia only reaching as far as the European nations of Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan & Russia too. Unfortunately even though Cyprus (Both the Turkish Cypriot North & Greek South), Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia are left alone & included in the List Of Mobile Network Operators In Europe, Turkey has been singled out & removed and put in another category. A nation founded as Secular & European by their Blond Haired & Blue Eyed WW1 Hero Ataturk. A nation physically in the Balkans in Europe, The Former home of the East Roman Empire. A nation completely & politically European in the UN, NATO North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, Council Of Europe, Associate Member of the EEC European Economic Community since 1963, EU European Union Accessing Member expected to become a Full Member, OCED, OSCE Organisation for Security & Co-operation in Europe, The Western Europe Branch of the WEOG Western European & Other Groups, UEFA Union of European Football Associatons even the Eurovision Song Contest & European Travel Insurance Listings. Suggestion: Distinguish EEA countries[edit]

Now that the EU has mandated economical roaming arrangements in EEA countries, it would be useful if each country heading could include a statement similar to:

"Xxxxxxxxx is a member of EEA and therefore qualifies for EU roaming from most other EEA networks"

or

"Consensus" regarding Europe[edit]

User:Galatz has reverted my reinstatement of the section on the mobile networks in Russia, citing "no consensus or discussion for move." To be fair, I haven't seen a consensus for its removal either. The original move of Russia to List of mobile network operators of the Asia Pacific region has been made here by User:80.2.22.132 with a comment: "Greenland is in North America! Greek South Cyprus is in the Middle East! Armenia is in Asia! Russia is 85% in Asia bordering China! BUT Kazakhstan is 10-15% in Europe AND Turkey is 5-10% in Europe, NATO, Council of Europe & Accessing to the EU European Union".

I do not agree on the current placements of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkey. Russia has 78% of its population in Europe (European Russia), the European part is its historical, economic, cultural, and administrative centre, and Russia is also the most populous European nation. On the other hand, only a small part of Kazakhstan is located in Europe, with also most of its population living in the Asian part. The similar statement applies also to Turkey. An argument could be made that both Kazakhstan and Turkey (as well as Russia) participate in some European institutions, but both are more commonly grouped alongside the Asian rather than European countries.

In other words, I believe that we should base the groupings on the demographics of these countries. Unless there are argumented objections to some of these proposals (moving Russia to Europe, and Turkey and Kazakhstan to the Asia Pacific), I will make the aforementioned changes, because right now the groupings make little sense. Constant violation of Kosovo section[edit]

There has been a constant violation of Kosovo's operator's by anonymous user's by deleting content due to politically motivated reasons without explaining why. Furthermore this has to do mostly because they don't acknowledge the mts operations in Kosovo to exist but according to the 2013 Brussels agreement mts is a legal entity operating in Kosovo. Something must be done in order to protect the Kosovo section because this isn't the first time that has happened. Some of the user's that have vandalized the content of Kosovo:
