Citing Chinese Wikipedia[edit]

When people cite sources, shouldn't they be citing reliable sources outside Wikipedia? Or is it okay to cite from another Wikipedia of a different language and still have that as a good source? Correct me if I'm wrong. --Bobianite (talk) 05:42, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Height measurements[edit]

As this is the English Wikipedia, and people in the U.S. (don't know about Great Britain though) use feet rather than meters, we should probably add some feet measurements after the one given in meters. I have started doing some of them but I do not have enough time and patience to complete it so it would help if someone else did. --Bobianite (talk) 01:23, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mabolasi height different than in its article[edit]

Mabolasi 3765m or 3785m? Jidanni (talk) 19:14, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How was a mountain or a peak (of a mountain) specified in the list?[edit]

The meanings of words "mountains", "peaks", "summits" are confused in the article.

"There are 286 mountain summits over 3,000 meters" => "There are 286 peaks (of mountains) over 3,000 meters"

"which lists the one hundred mountains over 3,000 m" => "which lists the one hundred peaks (of mountains) over 3,000 m"

"Climbing all of the one hundred mountains" => "Climbing all of the one hundred peaks (of mountains)"

For example, Yushan is counted as a single "mountain", and there are more than 10 peaks in Yushan mountain, and 9 of them are listed in the list of 100 Peaks of Taiwan.

To complete the list of 100 I would say "great challenge" but not "the greatest challenge".

Some consider the "mountains" in the "list of high mountains" should be classified as peaks of other already listed mountains. For examples,

  • Rank 6 Kailantekun Mountain 凱蘭特崑山 and peaks are supposed to be peaks of rank 2 Xueshan 雪山. Kailantekun "Mountain" is on the ridge between the main peak and northern peak of Xueshan, which the 2 peaks were both already in rank 2 Xueshan.
  • Rank 10 Matelan Mountain (Ganmulin Mountain) 馬特蘭山 (甘木林山) should be a peak of rank 2 Xueshan. It is between main peak and east peak of Xueshan.
  • Rank 14 Cuichisancha Mountain (Cuichi Mountain) 翠池三叉山 is between the western peak and main peak of rank 2 Xueshan.
  • Rank 28 Taosai Peak (Mountain) 陶塞峰(山) is between the eastern peak and southeastern peak of rank 5 Nanhu Mountain 南湖大山.
  • Rank 42 Qilaichi Mountain 奇萊池山 and rank 50 Qilaili Mountain 奇萊裡山 and rank 53 Kaluolou Mountain 卡羅樓山 are between the southern peak and main peak and northern peak of rank 15 Qilai Mountain 奇萊(主)山.
  • Rank 73 Tiangongbaolei -Mountain- 天宮堡壘-山- is just a rock feature on rank 70 Xinkang Mountain 新康山 a few dozens of meters next to the summit.
  • Rank 109 Hehuanjian Mountain 合歡尖山 is between the northern peak and main peak of rank 43 Hehuan Mountain (Hehuanshan, Mount Hehuan) 合歡山

In addition to the above "peaks" which are on the ridges between already listed peaks of mountains, there are "mountains" in the list very near to already listed mountains and very small prominence:

  • Rank 7 Dongxiaonan Mountain 東小南山 and Rank 50 Nanyu Mountain 南玉山 and rank 171 Lu Mountain 鹿山 => peak of rank 1 Yushan 玉山, depending on the definitions of "mountains" and "peaks".
  • Rank 20 Nanhubei Mountain 南湖北山 and rank 35 Baba Mountain 巴巴山 and rank 110 Mabishan Mountain 馬比杉山 => rank 5 Nanhu Mountain 南湖大山.
  • Rank 87 Jiannanjian Mountain 劍南尖山 => rank 17 Dajian Mountain 大劍山.
  • Rank 128 Xihehuan Mountain 西合歡山 and rank 168 Wufanaiwei Mountain 武法奈尾山 => rank 43 Hehuan Mountain (Hehuanshan, Mount Hehuan) 合歡山
  • The above does not exhaust the list of confused mountains and peaks, there are still other "mountains" with very small prominence in the list.

Rank 190 Zhiwan Mountain 治苑山 the wording is incorrect. It should be Zhimao Mountain 治茆山
