Comments[edit]

Should be renamed to List of nightclub fires. 24.242.195.208 (talk) 03:17, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

 Created a redirect. The Anonymouse (talk | contribs) 07:36, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
But maybe a rename. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:09, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Boldly done. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:16, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Table sort by[edit]

Gravity should supersede chronology, so maybe sort by death toll. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:09, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think the existing chronological sort order is better, rather than by casualty numbers. It's less tedious detail work for editors, and the table is sortable for readers by clicking on the arrows anyway. Reify-tech (talk) 20:24, 24 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hoax entry removed[edit]

76.100.53.148 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) added to List of nightclub fires an entry for "Nice, Nice fire" on 2013-05-17T23:30:50. Googling on the details turns up nothing, and this appears to be a hoax. It persisted for a week before I reverted it. Any comments? Reify-tech (talk) 20:19, 24 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notable enough?[edit]

Found another nightclub fire, is it notable enough?

Factory Nightclub, Columbia (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/7356989.stm, http://globalvoicesonline.org/2011/05/16/ecuador-three-years-after-the-factory-tragedy/) - 15 dead, 35 injured Nerter (talk) 15:51, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

seealso Formosa Fun Coast explosion[edit]

Formosa Fun Coast explosion - not a nightclub, but nearly 500 injuries from a fire, I'll add this to a seealso section -- Aronzak (talk) 21:52, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Moving to list of concert fires[edit]

My edits to Formosa Fun Coast explosion's seealso have twice been reverted. - I see no reason to call this article "nightclub" - obviously there are major issues like the Station Nightclub - but there are fires at other events. -- Aronzak (talk) 22:53, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe List of venue fires or something? The fires take place at establishements that sometimes have no concert, like Kheyvis fire and others on the list. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:57, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've just moved it back as controversial and needing discussion. I see you've changed List of nightclub fires --> List of concert fires in at least one article. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:00, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This appears to have since been resolved (discussed elsewhere) by classifying the Formosa Fun Coast incident as a nightclub fire. Reify-tech (talk) 19:19, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Unlisted major nightclub fires in Latin America[edit]

An article published in the Huffington Post mentions at least two major nightclub fires which are not listed in this article, and which do not appear to have Wikipedia articles:[1]

  • Utopia nightclub: Lima, Peru (July 20, 2002); 29 deaths
  • La Guajira nightclub: Caracas, Venezuela (December 1, 2000); 47 deaths

These were significant incidents, likely noteworthy for Wikipedia coverage. A Google search turns up some English language documentation, but since they occurred in Latin America and I am not fluent in Spanish, I leave it to others to research them further. 2016 Oakland warehouse fire[edit]

Re: 2016 Oakland warehouse fire. Is this really a "nightclub"? (I am not sure, but I do not believe so.) Why is it on this list of nightclub fires? Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 03:35, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to include many of these fires on the disasters list, but they have no obvious cite. Am I missing something? --PaulinSaudi (talk) 22:43, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
