Notability[edit]

Please only list people who qualify as notable under Wikipedia criteria. In general, either the person is already the subject of an article, or they are prominently named in an article (for example, as a member of a band), or you are getting started on writing that article. If the person's connection to South Carolina is not mentioned in their Wikipedia article please include a source citation. If they are notable, have no article, but are prominently named in a Wikipedia article, please use a piped link to that article (and section) from their name. If you are inserting a name prefatory to writing the article about a notable person, please cite a source here for notability and for their South Carolina connection. Thanks. See in particular Wikipedia:Notability (people)#Lists of people. --Bejnar (talk) 17:16, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merger[edit]

In February 2008, Gnome de plume proposed merging Famous people from South Carolina and this list. Since under Wikipedia:Notability (people)#Lists of people all of those listed here must be "famous", in some sense of that word, there seems to be no reason not to merge the two lists. Since the word "famous" is redundant, it would seem that this is the more appropriate title. I have started the merge. --Bejnar (talk) 00:48, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The merger was completed by UnitedStatesian on 16 October 2010‎. --Bejnar (talk) 06:58, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

List of people from Charleston, South Carolina[edit]

As there is now a List of people from Charleston, South Carolina] article, should we remove all of them from this list? Or should we reorganize this list geographically first? Or should we just put a link to it in a "see also"? --Bejnar (talk) 04:20, 31 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
