Criminals Section[edit]

I noticed that none of the people listed in the "Criminals" section of this article have any actual affiliation with Springfield other than their involuntary incarceration at the federal prison hospital in the city. Since none of them were born in or claimed voluntary residency in Springfield, I would like to propose that they be removed from this article, although I do not object to keeping the "Criminals" section if it can be "populated" with the names of "bona fide" Springfield natives and residents who meet the inclusion criteria. Any thoughts on this matter from my fellow Wikipedians would be most appreciated. --TommyBoy (talk) 10:24, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with that. I believe it was raised quite some time ago but not acted upon. I wonder whether such lists for other cities include this sort of involuntary "residents." I'm not sure what the point would be of even maintaining a "Criminals" section since all you're really communicating is that they are "there." But like Tommy Boy, not the end of the world if made into a separate section. RadioBroadcast (talk) 12:31, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This was raised, I think on Talk:Springfield, Missouri. I created this page partially to settle that, and because the list was getting too long for the city page. I'd say nix them. Grey Wanderer (talk) 20:29, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
In response to User:Grey Wanderer's comments, I have posted comments at Talk:Springfield, Missouri referring to this discussion. --TommyBoy (talk) 22:07, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Considering that it has been four months since I raised this question without any further discussion on the issue since then, I think the time has come to make a final decision on the issue. Any further thoughts on this issue from my fellow Wikipedians would be most appreciated. --TommyBoy (talk) 00:47, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the "Criminals" section of this article, as the above discussion has transpired more than seven months ago, and feedback has been twice solicited on this page by TommyBoy. The only comment in that time has been in concurrence with his original proposal. RadioBroadcast (talk) 01:41, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with User:RadioBroadcast's decision on removing that section. --TommyBoy (talk) 06:43, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Janet Kavandi isn't from Springfield[edit]

You can note from the linked article that Janet Kavandi, an astronaut, was born in Carthage and went to school there with college in Joplin, MO. I'm not sure why that would make her a "Springfieldian". I'll give it some time, but she should be removed from the list for this reason, and perhaps added to the Carthage article or a similar list for that area. She was born in Springfield, and later moved to Carthage. Gvros8 (talk) 18:48, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
