Page scope[edit]

Once List of state highways in Montana is fully converted to templates, the page will likely be quite long. At that point, the proper next step would be to split the secondary highways out. However, the logical location for a table listing all of them is "List of secondary highways in Montana", or this page. Before we get to that point, if we're going to continue to RCS-ify the written article content on the various secondary highways, we can easily foresee that this current page will be much too long.

So, in the near future, I would suggest that we move the content of this current page to another title, and begin laying the foundation to split it into pages. Perhaps "List of secondary highways in <region>"-type pages would work best. In short, it would be best to set up the structure before we get any more content created. I counted the number of secondary highways listed in this article; there are 248 total. There seems to be no numerical association between MDT region and route number, and I do not know whether any secondary highways cross district boundaries or even what those boundaries are. So I recommend creating RCS lists by numerical range. There are at least 83 routes numbered 200–299, so we should decide whether to split by hundreds, or by fifties for most of the ranges. There are only 39 routes in the 500s, so we do not need to split that one.  V 04:31, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure if it's necessary for a RCS list. In my experience, there isn't a whole lot to say about them and the ones listed here are pretty well padded. –Fredddie 13:33, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Secondary Highway 511[edit]

Secondary Highway 511 seems to go from the Canada—US border at Saskatchewan Highway 34 south to Flaxville, Montana. It's missing from the list. Any reason for that? Masterhatch (talk) 14:15, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind. I see it. Masterhatch (talk) 14:17, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
