Bao Xishun[edit]

The wiki article of Bao Xishun ([[1]]) mentions his height to be 2.47 metres (8 ft 1 in). In "People that are tallest (6 ft 3 in and over)" it's said to be 2.36 m (7 ft 9 in). Both heights are mentioned in different sources on the Internet. Which one is correct? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mimimei (talkcontribs) 09:38, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

André René Roussimoff height[edit]

André René Roussimoff, stage name "Andre the Giant", was not 7"4' and there is no credible evidence to support this claim. In the same way that his real name is not "Andre the Giant", his real height is not 7"4'. It is very, very well known that the billed heights and weights of professional wrestlers are exaggerated to build a character for the show. The reference provided is for the character Andre the Giant, not for the real man André René Roussimoff, therefore the link is not supporting evidence. 2A02:2F00:210D:A000:B1FA:349E:F53B:1512 (talk) 17:23, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That's why André is in the Disputed and unverified section.Halbared (talk) 17:30, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Halbared I will find some good sources for his real height and bring them here soon. Thank you for your patience. 2A02:2F00:210D:A000:B1FA:349E:F53B:1512 (talk) 17:48, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@2A02:2F00:210D:A000:B1FA:349E:F53B:1512 it should be very clear that 7"4' is a fictional height and so there is no dispute or verification expected for the heights of pro-wrestlers 2A02:2F00:210D:A000:B1FA:349E:F53B:1512 (talk) 17:55, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Number of people known to be 8 foot tall[edit]

As I go down the list of tallest people, several of the articles say something along the lines of "one of X people in medical history known to be taller than 8 feet". The problem is that X is different in various articles and that is obviously a problem! The issue, I believe, is that some people on this list are marked as having a disputed height, even though that height was definitely more than 8 feet (e.g. Hồ Văn Trung), but others have a disputed height and might not have been 8 feet after all (e.g. Leonid Stadnyk). I think two things need to happen:

1. The list here needs to be clear about whether someone was definitively taller than 8 foot, with the exact height being unknown, or whether someone may not have been 8 foot tall after all. I suggest that the "Height disputed" colour needs to be split, further, into two colours, so that this distinction is clear.

2. Once that is done, this article should include the final number - whatever it is - and then all the "sub" articles can be updated accordingly.

I am happy to do this work as long as people agree with me about what needs to be done. Thoughts please? FillsHerTease (talk) 11:47, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

addition of another woman to the list[edit]

I noticed the list of women was missing the Maci Currin, the 6’10 world record holder for the longest legs on a woman. would it be redundant to add her? Seeing as Tharjini is also 6’10 and a fellow world record holder (although in a very different way), would it be fair to add Maci to make the list fuller? Liu Fu Yin[edit]

This blog post that I found about the tallest women in history has a woman listed (with a picture of her) named Liu Fu Yin who is 2.30 meters (7'5.459'') tall. However, simply searching the name "Liu Fu Yin" doesn't pull anything up. I'm sure that, if I transliterated the name in a different way, something would come up, but I lack the Chinese proficiency to do so. Could any of you Chinese-speakers find anything about this woman? And, if so, can we add her to the list of tallest women?--LadybugStardust (talk) 01:31, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
