PURPOSE: This article seeks to be a comprehensive list of the theatrical works of W. S. Gilbert, and to serve as a well-cited way of briefly describing plays too non-notable to have their own article.

NPOV statement: To avoid POV, all descriptions will be plot summaries (summarised from the original librettos, and/or well-cited (or, in early stages, citable) infomation on the opera. To avoid NPOV selection criteria, all theatrical works will be included.

Organisation: Chronological. An alphabetical list may be created from it later, but this would likely involve complicated templates to keep the two lists in accordance with each other. Where possible, all works available online should have a labelled link given directly to it.

Primary sources: The most useful are likely to be the Gilbert and Sullivan Archive and Origional Plays (in four series) by W. S. Gilbert for early work.
