Incomplete list[edit]

The unincorporated communities in this list are almost exclusively within southern Alberta, except for those in Clearwater County (within central Alberta). Therefore, this is truly not a list of unincorporated communities in Alberta. It is more of a list of unincorporated communities in southern Alberta and Clearwater County. Please continue populating this list for the balance of the province. Hwy43 (talk) 19:12, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It appears my request has gone unheeded. Please complete this list per the above or I will nominate the article for deletion. Hwy43 (talk) 20:47, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion[edit]

Per the above, I have nominated this article for deletion. The list is incomplete and biased to certain rural municipalities. Inclusion of three or more unincorporated communities from nine of Alberta's 74 rural municipalities, as well as less than three from seven other rural municipalities, and one from just one of the dozens of Indian reserves in Alberta is far from a comprehensive and unbiased list that covers all rural municipalities and Indian reserves in Alberta. Further, the article is unreferenced.

Please provide comment at the AfD page instead of here. Hwy43 (talk) 04:38, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article inclusion in Wikipedia is appropriate[edit]

Per Wikipedia is not a directory, the article's inclusion on Wikipedia is appropriate, as the article has an organized focus and is not, per Wikipedia directory guidelines, like "Lists or repositories of loosely associated topics". The article completely passes all eight points of WP:NOTDIR guidelines. Furthermore, the article can also serve to promote the creation of new articles for unincorporated communities in Alberta, and is functional and appropriate as a Wikipedia article in list format. Northamerica1000 (talk) 21:20, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To repeat from here, there is no verification that every article in this list is, or ever was, a community.

Per the same Wikipedia is not a directory, does this mean an article listing Alberta's ~3,000 localities (as recognized by Statistics Canada) is also appropriate, despite only a small fraction having articles? If so, do we want to promote the creation of articles for every named yet unsettled place or rail siding in Alberta simply because they are in a federal database when there is no history to these places other than being given the name in the first place? Article has been included in Wikipedia[edit]

The article was deemed worthy for inclusion in Wikipedia: the result of the AfD was to keep it, because it's functional and appropriate as a Wikipedia article in list format and it's congruent with building Wikipedia. Northamerica1000 (talk) 02:33, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merged and redirected[edit]

Coincidentally almost 10 years to the day my AfD closed as keep I have fixed the problem as suggested. I created a complete and referenced List of localities in Alberta, which enabled boldly merging and redirecting this article to that. If any opposition, feel free to revert and we can start a formal merge proposal discussion. Cheers, Hwy43 (talk) 08:11, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
