Redundant[edit]

Is this just a bunch of duplicated information from other articles? What new content has been added? I don't think this article should exist. - adamstom97 (talk) 23:54, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I would agree. Perhaps it can be merged back to the larger Marvel Comics unproduced list, and if so, maybe this just becomes a subsection there? - Favre1fan93 (talk) 15:34, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm fine with it becoming part of that page. I sought for this page to compile the unproduced MCU content, but I did not expect it to be approved so early on. I'd be glad for it to be merged with the larger listing. Trailblazer101 (talk) 15:41, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I think on both List of unproduced Marvel Comics projects and List of unproduced television projects based on Marvel Comics, MCU subsections can be made to house all of the relevant MCU info. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 15:49, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How about remove the mcu entire for that list, that list is big and could do with being reduce Fanoflionking 18:19, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have just done what i said above just to see what it would look like Fanoflionking 18:33, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It is a shame that I wasn't pinged to be apart of this discussion, as I created both pages and included most of the information. So, I would like to add that I once tried to split the mammoth page List of unproduced Marvel Comics projects into several seperate split pages. One of those was for the Marvel films canceled due to the Disney-Fox deal. The page was eventually scrapped for being too small or not extensive enough. Point being, I think some editors might think List of unproduced Marvel Cinematic Universe projects is too small or redundant. I kind of agree, a little, that the page is a bit redundant, due to the small amount of films and television series listed here. However, I do agree that unproduced Marvel Comics adaptations need to be in several pages, due to the collective large amount of projects. I suggest maybe including the Marvel films canceled by the Disney-Fox into this page, to make it more extensive, as they are related in some capacity. Thoughts? Cardei012597 (talk) 23:23, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also, since all of the unproduced MCU-related films from List of unproduced film projects based on Marvel Comics were moved here, should the section "Silver & Black" film be moved here too? It seems like Sony's Marvel Universe is somewhat connected, adjunct, with the MCU, so should the unproduced film "Silver & Black" be relocated here? Cardei012597 (talk) 23:32, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I think we can bundle those Fox films and Silver & Black into this page under a new title and am willing to support that. The other pages of unproduced content are heavily overloaded with content and I think a split along the lines of different eras might help, as in the pre-2000s in one page for both films and series and a 2000s-present page for all of those from that time, with a sub-header on the latter being for ones in different franchises like the MCU, Fox's films, and Sony's. Trailblazer101 (talk) 01:04, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I think maybe we should consider doing the following pages List of unproduced fox films and tv series based on marvel comics and List of unproduced sony films and tv series based on marvel comics both witch would get rid of huge chunks of that page Fanoflionking 08:42, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I just say delete it. Also a lot of things were produced, just because a project changed directors or changed format doesn’t mean they weren’t.—TriiipleThreat (talk) 09:50, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, we can just delete it and restore the info on the other pages. If others feel a split on those is needed, it can be discussed on those articles. Trailblazer101 (talk) 14:42, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I do feel that List of unproduced film projects based on Marvel Comics, if including the MCU products, would be rather lengthy and could benefit from a split. However, I feel that the MCU content is just not long or extensive enough for its own page. That was primarily why I offered to move over the Disney/Fox films and Silver & Black to beef it up a little. In all honesty, I do not know if there is a decent amount of any subsection to split off from List of unproduced film projects based on Marvel Comics, before the MCU projects split. I can relent to just moving the MCU content back into List of unproduced film projects based on Marvel Comics and deleting the new MCU page, but I also wanted to offer the above choice, as well. I am fine and acceptable with either decision, remove alltogether or add more. Cardei012597 (talk) 19:50, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reworking page[edit]

@Adamstom.97, Favre1fan93, Facu-el Millo, and TriiipleThreat:I know this page has seemed quite unnecessary given much of it was copied from other articles, but I have started working on reframing this article's content, style, and focus to be specifically about the versions of Marvel Cinematic Universe projects that ended up being unproduced in those forms using wording specific to this page's perspective. I expect this revamp to be done by the end of the year or into 2021, depending on how much of this is kept or left out. So, I will be heavily looking at this page's quality and content to determine what should be included here and what really shouldn't, and that could just lead to it being merged into another Marvel unproduced list article for an MCU section if this much distinction is found to be not as independent from the rest after this revamp, though I must say I am not too fond of the other Marvel list's qualities or styles myself, though I would be glad to personally handle this content being fixated and moved in any manner, given it was my premature review submission that had it moved to the mainspace. I'm fine with whatever you're planning to do. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:36, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
A month later and I've completed the reworking of the article. I tried removing lots of information that was out of place and overly detailed to just retain it about the projects or project iterations that were unmade or not developed yet. I have also removed del Toro's The Hulk series as it wasn't confirmed to be for the MCU and have added the proposed Hank Pym prequel film as that hasn't gotten any updates in a few years. Revisiting[edit]

I would like to revisit this issue, as we are a few years on and this article still seems silly/redundant to me. All of the TV stuff is valid, I think, but it is all copied from the TV articles. And the only things in the film section that I think genuinely count as unproduced projects are the Inhumans and Runaways films since Inhumans was announced and dated but never made, and Runaways was in full development before they went with the TV version. The others just shouldn't be included here:

  • Edgar Wright's Ant-Man -- this is silly, Ant-Man was made and Wright received final credit for the story. We may not have gotten his original vision, but the film that he was developing did get made and should not be considered an unproduced project.
  • Untitled The Incredible Hulk sequel -- there was never any announcement about this, and no confirmed development work, it is just a suggestion that has never gone anywhere
  • Guardians of the Galaxy prequel One-Shots -- not films, should just be mentioned at the Guardians of the Galaxy and Marvel One-Shots articles
  • Ant-Man Hank Pym prequel -- this has been suggested but there has never been any indication that it could happen, I don't think that is enough to call it an unproduced project
  • Untitled Drax and Mantis film -- sounds like another suggestion that went nowhere, not an unproduced project

So, I think we should be finding better places for these things (if they aren't already there, but I think they mostly are) and getting rid of this article. - adamstom97 (talk) 21:37, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there's much interest by many editors on this particular article. I say you be WP:BOLD with whatever you want to do. I agree with you that Ant-Man was indeed produced, and that all those projects that were just suggested with no actual development work shouldn't be considered "unproduceded projects". —El Millo (talk) 22:14, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't gotten around to justifying this article's existence with my own c/e, and I don't see a point in keeping it around for much longer given adam's points. If they need to be expanded upon at the relevant articles, then they should be done there. I'm fine with this either being redirected or deleted. Trailblazer101 (talk) 22:32, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also happy to support any changing to this. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 15:23, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have gone ahead and redirected the article. - adamstom97 (talk) 22:07, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why is Ant Man included?[edit]

I'm confused about why Ant Man is included in this article. The movie was produced. Should it be removed from this, and the information added to Ant Man's page? PupGoomba (talk) 03:38, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's Edgar Wright's Ant-Man, not the version of the film that was ultimately made and released. El Millo (talk) 03:49, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
