Wouldn't it be faster to list the webcomics without?[edit]

Isn't this kind of like having a list of birds with feathers? Seems like a random list for Wikipedia to bother keeping. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.94.57.191 (talk) 20:05, 8 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No, that would be a bad idea. It is important to list these characters and these comics, so people interested in this topic can find them and learn more about them. It is NOT a "random list." --Historyday01 (talk) 22:24, 8 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Removal Of Comics[edit]

What exactly is the criteria of adding comics or info to this page? I see that several comics have been removed for not having citations. Whereas other comics are allowed to be here without citations or because they link to youtube or twitter (unreliable sources at best) as a form of citation. A bit confusing since it's unclear what is required for a comic to justify its existence on this page. Added several comics with fairly notable creators and LGBTQ characters ( Gisèle Lagacé, Stjepan Sejic etc) only to have them removed. Thought it was because they were added without an account and have since joined Wikipedia to discuss this. Why are some comics allowed to be here with no decent citations and others removed? And what qualifies as an acceptable citation? A tweet? I'm not trying to be nasty; I would genuinely like to know so I can contribute to this page Staflak (talk) 14:38, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Staflak, YouTube and Twitter links can be acceptable if used minimally (currently the only entry which uses YouTube is the Hazbin Hotel entry), as could links to the comics themselves. Well, I removed a LOT today. My main criteria was that the comic has a Wikipedia page. And Gisèle Lagacé, Stjepan Sejic etc don't have wikipedia pages to my knowledge. If a comic has an entry on Wikipedia, either as its own page, or as a part of a page (as is the case with comics by Kate Leth and Julia Kaye), then it should be on this page. Every single entry on the page, just from pursuing it while responding to your comment HAS a source and deserves to be on this page. Anyway, often people without an account have added entries and used dubious or no sources. I had been meaning to slim this down for a while, and I think the page is MUCH better off for it. But... if you ever want to bring back any of the entries listed at User:Historyday01/sandbox 3#Entries of webcomics that need better sourcing just create a page for the comic (provided there are enough reliable sources to support it)... I don't have time to create entries for every single comic, there are just WAY too many. I would just get overwhelmed. --Historyday01 (talk) 16:18, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Historyday01, I know everybody appreciate your efforts with the page, thanks! Although I hope that the page doesn't end up over-pruned lol. Gisèle_Lagacé and Stjepan_Šejić do have Wikipedia pages & I think L Phillips is part of the African cartoonists page. I don't know if Michael Lee Lunsford has a page or is part of a Wiki page. A comic needing a Wikipedia page to be listed here is a kinda stringent. The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal was nominated for an Esiner and won a Harvey and Lambda so it should be here even if it doesn't have a page. And if every webcomic here needs a Wiki page, we're gonna end up with a lot of stubs etc. What do you think?

Here are citations for some removed comics

Fine Print Source Source The main character is with a male and female character on the cover, showing she's bisexual. It was originally published online on Deviantart and Patreon, later released in print. Kinda wanted to put down "The Queen and the Woodborn" by him; it's amazing but can't really find citations about the character's sexuality

Backwater Siren Source The creator got a grant for the parent series SmokeFurStone SourceSource

Pixie Trix Comix: Facebook post about character's sexuality Maybe a bit thin but does assert his sexuality. Comic is by Gisèle_Lagacé

Supernormal Step Source I think it was published online by Hiveworks so not exactly a nonentity comic.

About Hazbin Hotel, I know 1 comic spin-off features Angel Dust and here are the citations I found about his sexuality Source Source

The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal. Here's some citations Citation 2

As the Crow Flies Source

Pizza Witch Source

Visibility Has Its Rewards: Six Cartoonists on Gender and Transition Source

Artifice also got some press Source

I get that the page can't just feature every arbitary LGBTQ+++ webcomic but some of the removed comics have articles, grants, prize or heavyweight creators. There's gotta be a space for them too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Staflak (talkcontribs) 19:36, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'll see what I can do. Thanks for providing these resources. Historyday01 (talk) 19:53, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your dedication is very cool..In case I forgot my password for this account, I will say this now; thank you for taking care of this page so well — Preceding unsigned comment added by Staflak (talkcontribs) 20:12, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

On Homestuck...[edit]

Should we add more characters to its section? One is blatantly confirmed to be gay (Dirk from Act 6), and more were confirmed trans, gay or nonbinary in whats known as "post-canon" (granted, post canon is not ACTUAL canon). I will only add Dirk for now, after looking to see what page or author answer confirmed his sexuality. 136.32.245.110 (talk) 21:44, 6 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
