Notability[edit]

Is this notable enough to have its own page listing every window that Davis made? As a comparison there are pages about Van Gogh's works in general, but after a quick search, I can't find any for Rembrandt. I think it would probably be better if the information here were put more concisely on Davis's main page. Will Bradshaw (talk) 20:20, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notability cont.[edit]

What will make Wikipedia great is its ability to hold in depth detailed information about relatively unknown artists and 'almost' notable people that may come to be appreciated in the future. There are vaults of knowledge buried in national archives and private collections that are about important events and people who have left their mark, but that have been lost to the main body of public consciousness. If you do stumble upon one of these people, you have to become an amateur historian to find and collect the detail information about them or their work, as most published information is only about the really famous. Then sadly once found and catalogued, it is lost again to the finders own personal archive for want of somewhere to publish it.

Louis Davis is a great example of this, a fantastic artist working in an almost totaly ignored artistic material, glass. Listing all his works here, not only makes it easy to navigate through the artist's work, it accelerates the journey of discovery of this wonderful artist's work. The fact at Rembrandt does not have a page listing in detail, all his works is an oversight of the people who love Rembrandt, not a fault of Louis Davis. I stumbled on Louis Davis work in the church 100 metres from my home, and then found this page, which opened up access to his whole career, brilliant.

This page gets my vote, and as for “notable”, well, time will be our judge on that aspect.(Yargdiva (talk) 16:45, 3 June 2012 (UTC))[reply]
