List of youngest members of the United States CongressLists of the youngest members of the United States Congress – At each time each person was the youngest member of the particular house in which s/he served. --Relisted. Only as there's a list for each house. Perhaps the pluralisation may not be important. GregKaye 15:58, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose as proposed, the plural is unnecessary. Do we have any relevant guideline? I can think of none but may have missed it, and perhaps we need one as several such requests have occurred recently. Relisting in the hope of further discussion of the two issues raised by this RM. Andrewa (talk) 13:32, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Andrewa Since I opened up these RMs similar comment had been made in regard to the use of a guideline and I've opened up a related thread at WT:THE. I don't know if that thread would have reached closure before this thread is done. GregKaye 17:14, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose I honestly don't think the plural makes much difference and it would be a waste of time, the current way is most certainly suitable. (Z2a (talk) 17:00, 8 May 2015 (UTC))[reply]

Persons under age 30[edit]

Portion of text reads: "The average age of Senators is now higher than in the past. In the 19th century, several state legislatures elected Senators in their late twenties in violation of the Constitutional minimum age of 30; Henry Clay and Joe Biden elected at age 29 are the most notable examples.[citation needed]" The statement is stating that Joe Biden was was elected in the 19th century. I am not taking time here to correct this, but just noting poor proofreading on author's part. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.109.63.112 (talk) 17:45, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Err, why is there a list of youngest and no list of oldest?[edit]

If seems to break the neutrality of this article by not having a similar one for the more senior members of Congress. Selective reporting is a type of bias. 73.170.156.225 (talk) 04:42, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't we wait until Ossoff's win is official or even projected by anyone before listing him here?[edit]

Yeah, he'll probably win but seems premature to include it on this page. Plus, he won't take office on January 6, 2021 but after that date.

Improving this table; it needs precision[edit]

I really was surprised (and greatly disappointed) to see that this table does not list the precise age, to the day, of each Senator upon taking the oath of office. I do recognize that it might not be possible for some of the earlier ones, but seriously, it shouldn't be too hard to include, for example, how many days over 30 years Joe Biden was when he was sworn in to the Senate. Italics[edit]

Why is Josiah Tattnall italicized? --Khajidha (talk) 17:15, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A prior editor italicized without an explanation. I added a sentence about the birthdate not being precise. —ADavidB 18:43, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We only need one or the other. If the entry has a note, we don't need to italicize. --Khajidha (talk) 18:55, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Fine with me. I removed the rest of the italicization as well. Two other senators had their entries italicized. —ADavidB 19:05, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

List of oldest members of the United States Congress[edit]

Is there a List of oldest members of the United States Congress? I can't seem to find anything. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 04:54, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Constitutional age requirements[edit]

This article should include a brief -- one sentence or so, for the Senate; and similar for the the House -- statement about the minimum Constitutional age requirements for each office. I think it may be age 30 for Senators... and age 25 for Representatives ... but not sure. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 04:58, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

[1] However, some was under 25 when sworn in even though they were supposed to be 30. Cwater1 (talk) 19:55, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
