which references Linguistics professor Jurgen Udolph where he "surmises that the children [in the Pied Piper story] were actually unemployed youths who had been sucked into the German drive to colonize its new settlements in Eastern Europe. The Pied Piper may never have existed as such, but, says the professor, "There were characters known as lokators who roamed northern Germany trying to recruit settlers for the East." Some of them were brightly dressed, and all were silver-tongued."

Sounds a bit like wild speculation to me. And his statements are a little too presumptuous: "some were brightly dressed" - were they? How does he know? Did they really dress up like the Pied Piper is portrayed? Seems unlikely. "all were silver-tongued" - was he there and did he meet them all? If there were wide consensus about a link, that would be different, but this seems like a WP:FRINGE view. --Bermicourt (talk) 19:08, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
