Donation of land[edit]

quoting from the article "although the land was donated by George VI in return for a site in Cairo for an Anglican cathedral.[2]"

This quotes the source as [[2]]

From that article in the Guardian "1928 ...George VI donates land in return for a site in Cairo for an Anglican cathedral "

...except in 1928 George V was on the throne. George VI didn't have such a title at that date and wasn't next in line to the throne and as such was then a minor royal casting great doubt that he donated the land. Of course it could be just another Grauniad error and they really intended to say George V 78.105.243.103 (talk) 18:37, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yasmin Alibhai-Brown writes (Exotic England, The Making of a Curious Nation (2015) "the land was paid for by Winston Churchill and his wartime government". She is unclear about when and by which department or person the land donation was actually made. If it was carved out of Regent's Park, the answer surely depends on who legally owned Regent's Park Anyone know?Cloptonson (talk) 10:48, 19 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

References for 1940[edit]

I have added your references in the text ... the "report" dated 18 October is from Leo Amery presented to the War Cabinet (not the prime minister, as stated). I don't know how to do the proper references, so if someone could do the honours, I would be obliged. You can lift the text of the report from here if you want ... or use the facsimile ... it is now out of copyright.

Largest in Europe claim[edit]

The claim that this mosque is among the largest in Europe doesn't have a reference attached to it. I've added an {{cn}} tag to it but an editor keeps removing it. As they don't seem to understand that claims like this need a source, anyone got a good source for this claim? Ravensfire (talk) 20:39, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No source provided for past two months. This is an extraordinary claim and with it unsourced and unsupported in the article it's simply WP:PUFFERY. This needs to be sourced to a solid, independent reliable source. Ravensfire (talk) 18:21, 17 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
