1972 Mk2 Stock - is it true how it was ordered?[edit]

According to Tubeprune, the government decreed that the London Transport Executive order the 33 trains of 1972 Mk2 Stock just to keep Metro-Cammell in business, and make the excuse that these trains would eventually be used on what became the Jubilee line.

Is this true? There don't appear to be any other sources that back this up... Bluebird207 (talk) 01:20, 29 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In addition to being the oldest EMUs in normal service in Britain, aren't the 1972 stock vehicles the oldest public transport vehicles of any kind in normal service in Britain? 2A00:23EE:16F8:1D8E:8DE0:81CA:1312:5F61 (talk) 17:10, 16 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@81.96.145.174 "Talk pages are for discussing the article, not for general conversation about the article's subject" - TfL have not agreed to the Bakerloo line option at this time (if they have, we need a source to include it in the article) Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines Turini2 (talk) 13:18, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
