Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because...He was a leading politician who served as mayor of Detroit and its most famous and most prosperous era, when it was the number five city in the United States. (1957–62). He received a major obituary in the New York Times, indicating his notability at the national level. His role has been covered in numerous scholarly articles, and I will add a few of those right now. The article is short but it is not a stub. Rjensen (talk) 16:37, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Aug 10th edit undo[edit]

I undid a RSed edit that was just added to the article. The material was sourced but as added it is either WP:UNDUE or WP:OR. The removed material suggested that only one crime reduction program (a stop and frisk type program) was responsible for a reduction in the city's crime. That could be seen as either WP:UNDUE as it is unlikely to be the only policy used, or WP:OR as it implies it was the only one that worked. I think the material is reasonably sourced so it's just a question of how best to include it. If the discussion is policies that reduced crime then others should be listed. If the discussion is policies that fueled the later riots then other factors should be included. The above is largely the same reason I gave for a similar removal on the History of Detroit page.
