Loose ends[edit]

Some more points I have not been able to run to ground:

Debretts 2008, Page B-832, suggests her first marriage ended in divorce in 1971.[1]
Who's Who says her mother was Jean Frances née Collinson, and gives details of her school education at the Corran School for Girls and Diocesan School for Girls, Auckland.[2]
Debretts also suggests her father was a Group Captain. The Peerage website says Squadron Leader. But there was a Flight Lieutenant Pat Goddard killed in a plane crash on Mount Ruapehu in 1951.[3] Is this the same person? Was he promoted posthumously?
There is a Pat Vaughan Goddard award for the RNZAF's "best female cadet in Physical Education and Recreational Training".[4] Again, is this the same person?

I don't know... but I think we should bear in mind that none of the "loose ends" are actually about her - they are about her parents or husband. Are they sufficiently relevant to be included in this article? Probably not, in my view. Ghmyrtle (talk) 15:45, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I take your point, but this is all the sort of factual information that you might expect to see in a biographical article, if the sources are good enough. The dates of her marriages are clearly relevant and "about her" (and it seems she was a divorcee with a very young child when she studied law at university in the early 1970s. It also seems her daughter Rebecca Scott is also a barrister.[5]). Also, the names and occupations of her parents, and her educational background, are surely relevant too. If that Flight Lieutenant Pat Goddard was her father, she would have been three years old in 1951. Perhaps someone has a paper copy of the books; I can only see the Google Books snippet views. Anyway, I think I am about done here. I'm sure she will do as good a job as she can with her new appointment, even if it has the appearance of a poisoned chalice. -- Ferma (talk) 16:03, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Recent claims[edit]

The claims about why she resigned from the child abuse Inquiry have been made by a usually reputable newspaper (The Times), and reported by the BBC here, so I have mentioned them in the article, briefly, together with her denial. Ghmyrtle (talk) 16:27, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
