Untitled[edit]

I improved this article for several reasons:

  • Basically, Ms. Rippelmeyer edited her own article. This is usually a big no-no in the Wikipedia-world. Nevertheless, the edits made by here are in fact correct: these accomplishments were actually made by her.
  • Some youth didn't like Ms. Rippelmeyer's edit and vandalised the article. I've undone this vandalism.

Dubious claim, "first woman to pilot a Boeing 747"[edit]

This article currently opens with the claim that Rippelmeyer was "the first woman to pilot a Boeing 747" (as of March 2023). It does not cite a source for this claim. The verb "to pilot" means to operate the controls during flight. I have not found a reliable source which verifies this. On the other hand, the Angela Masson article, and a source claim that Masson was the first woman to earn a type rating in the 747. If true, Masson rather than Ripplemeyer deserves credit as the first woman to "pilot" a Boeing 747. However, Rippelmeyer does have several sources verifying that she was the first woman to be captain of a Boeing 747 on a trans-Atlantic flight. So, I reworded the claim to be about the latter, rather than the former. --Jdlh | Talk 17:45, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
