Etymology/meaning

For "Macroom" derived from or associated with Crom: Samuel Carter Hall. Ireland, its scenery, character, etc. How and Parsons, 1841. p. 393. See if it's any good – end of the 19th c wasn't half bad for Classical philology, but don't know about you, uncouth beer-consuming Celts. --Coco Lacoste (talk) 04:14, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

Wording in the lead too POV

The last paragraph in the lead has the unencyclopedic wording "correctly." I have reverted it, been reverted in turn, and am here to discuss. While it may well be true that the town "never reared a fool" it isn't exactly NPOV to say it is a fact. I am OK with "traditionally," however, though even that in the lead is pushing it. Jusdafax 06:43, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

Please. Go away. Ceoil (talk) 07:16, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
That's a vio of WP:OWN. Just so you know, I have had this article watchlisted since 2010, when I reverted a number of vandalistic edits. We have had a couple run-ins in the past, and I would really rather not have to take this to a noticeboard. Now, how do you justify that POV sentence? Jusdafax 09:48, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
So your basically threatening me. Ceoil (talk) 11:56, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
I'm asking you to respond to a reasonable question in a reasonable manner, which so far you haven't done. Jusdafax 18:14, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
One, I didnt revert you, I re-edited. Two, if we had fights I dont remember but maybe you do. Three, you are insufferably smug ('I would really rather not') and, if I wasnt assuming good faith, tempted to think you followed and are now baiting. "when I reverted a number of vandalistic edits". Maybe, but there is more to this I'm sure. Ceoil (talk) 18:28, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
I've pulled it out, as this conversation started badly and is not improving. You clearly choose not to discuss why you feel "and correctly" is not a violation of WP:NPOV. Jusdafax 20:24, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
  • I notice you gave up your quixotic stand a few days after I walked away. Good choice. Jusdafax 06:38, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
(too late) @Jusdafax: I wonder why she thought you were acting smug. —JJBers 03:46, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
JJ, this why keeping an eye on RFA is vital for the health of the community. Wanna be cops. Ceoil (talk) 12:28, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

Closing the above thread

It appears we have a problem here. Closing the above thread, trolled after a three year gap, is called for. In the original thread, as now, Ceoil has refused constructive discussion. I again suggest we discuss to resolve the issue. Jusdafax 23:16, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

It appears you have an imagined ego-massaging related problem. I dont see any issue worth discussing. There is a shovel over there if you want to continue digging. Noting the lack of Macroom or otherwise fact based substance to any of your posts here. Ceoil (talk)
Comment noted. For the record, our original dispute three years ago was regarding your odd non-NPOV addition "and rightly so" to the description off the town in question as one "that never reared a fool." Your addition "and rightly so" was reverted by me. That's how this started. Now you insist by way of two reverts of my closure, on keeping a thread open that contains a ping of myself, and an inplied insult from you regarding what can only be a perceived as hostility. Archiving the thread seemed the right choice, rather than wasting further editor time. Your comment above shows no willingness to move on. Strongly suggest you drop the stick with your insults, and agree to archive. Jusdafax 12:31, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
You misrepresent, also you are a liar. My point is let it die however you try and spin. I stand by my first comment, 3 years ago, go away, your ilk is of no interest nor matter to me. There is no you and me to move on to. Ceoil (talk) 13:35, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
If you reply to this you have to wonder "what am I contributing at the end of this all, except fucking up and then launching balls out incoherent defenses". Ceoil (talk) 13:44, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
  • Telling an editor to "go away" is, as I previously noted, a violation of WP:OWN. Your insults aside, what gives you the right to order anyone here? You have never once discussed the edit that led you to try that tactic the first time, which I reverted, "and rightly so." Nor will you address why you refuse to allow the closure of the above thread, having reverted two closures. Jusdafax 13:47, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
Ha ha. Your a joke. 3 years man and you edit warred. Talk about looking for drama. If you have any shed of substance let me know, otherwise..... Ceoil (talk) 14:27, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
You continue to fail to address the edits, not the editor, as you continue with insults, both here and in your edit summary in the article reverting my fix of the dead link. Jusdafax 14:44, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

"Con Kelleher - Photographer" notability not in evidence

I see no evidence of notability via Google, and deleted, and have been reverted. Suggest discussion. There is no Wikipedia article for the photographer. Jusdafax 14:50, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

Con Kelleher

Currently, in "Notable people", there is a VC medal holder, a former senator, an MEP, a minister for agriculture, all with cited pages of their own... And a photographer with no page, no citations, no website, and from the second page of Google search results, a single passing reference buried in the body of a large article in the Independent. Could you please explain why this photographer (and not any of the other macroom photographers who pop up if you search) is notable? Just noticed this. As an eventualist, I stand vindicated. I again strongly suggest, Ceoil, that you redact the various personal attacks you have directed my way on this page. As it stands, you do yourself a disservice. Jusdafax (talk) 07:00, 14 January 2018 (UTC)
Just noticed your point here now. Hello from the future :) But agree, sigh, and by the way the photographer is long since removed Jusdafax. Suggest this whole talk page is archived and we agree that bygones are bygones and I should be less cranky in future. For the record, I never met the man, but at the time, 6 or 7 years ago, he was getting a lot of...deserved....local press attention. That he shares my surname, as some will know, is not concidence....around 50% of Macroompians are Kellehers, but not related; the area just never felt it needed too many surnames. Also in case of douubt, I cant take photograph for shit, and while ok at framing, never figured out what aperture actually means. Ceoil (talk) 23:36, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
Utterly agree with you about archiving and putting our back and forth to bed after all these years, and I salute you for reaching out. I generally admire your work on Wikipedia and am humbled by your statement. Cheers and best wishes! Jusdafax (talk) 09:37, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
Phew, and thanks. Will archive this in a few hours...with no hard feelings from my side, and see you around I suppose! Ceoil (talk) 14:00, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
