As I tried to emphasise in the entry, the maes-e site has earned considerable notability in terms of the Welsh language and its culture online. This is meant to be a stub. Providing sources would require looking through a lot of back issues of Welsh language magazines. I will leave a message on the Welsh language Wiki asking for confirmation, if that helps. Ioan07
- I agree, this website is notable. It is at the forefront of the Welsh language on the web, discussions revolve around anything from music to politics and often both. Regular contributors include notable Welsh musicians amongst others. The presence of modern Welsh culture in general is limited, so this should not be overlooked. - In an effort to prove notability I searched the BBC for third-party Maes-e entries and could only find a few sources,but none specifically speaking to the importance of the site. There may be more entries in Welsh. If someone could find third-party published (internet or otherwise) then that would satisfy the notability standard. I will continue to look myself for other third-party sources on the importance of the site myself.Drachenfyre (talk) 07:57, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- BBC article about Welsh on the Web, 2005, (in Welsh), described Nic Davis as the webmaster of the iconic discussion forum, maes-e.com, which has enjoyed considerable success recently especially the previuos year (2004). The article goes on to say that of the young Welsh voices on the web, Nic Davis is one of those worth listening to. The forum had over 1200 members at the time of writing. It says the site has a broad range of subjects which inspire keen discussion in an open an honest manner - and not afraid of pulling punches, a rare quality amongst the Welsh speaking. It goes on to say that discussing maes-e in the terms of a forum only is like discurring the Eisteddfod based only on the Crowning and the Chairing - the true success of maes-e is measured in that it is a meeting place for a new generation of young Welsh speakers (and some not so young), to create Welsh single language websites free from subsidy or cencorship. There is no establishment for this new scene, it is a network of blogs, forums and independent websites which all have the link of being Welsh single language sites. - I've now included a reference to a published article by the Mercator Centre and hope this is acceptable. This is a problem with the Wikipedia notability criteria for subjects in minority languages and cultures as they may not be covered by English language media and there's not always an easy to find reference in the original language - as with Scottish Gaelic Punk recently. @Rhyswynne: I believe Wikipedia prefers source material primarily in the language of the Wikipedia in which the artical is written, favoring published material. Failing this, published sources in other languages are acceptable iirc. Edit: Im glad we were able to find 3rd party referencesDrachenfyre (talk) 05:57, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Maes-e most certainly is one of the most important websites dealing with issues in Welsh, it is sufficiently important that it has been used by the BBC's language political commentator Vaughan Roderick to make an announcement about BBC coverage of elections etc. Here is a quote from a highly thought of political blog in Wales, http://this-is-sparta.blogspot.com/2007/04/bbc-blogs-go-welsh.html, "BBC Welsh language political commentator Vaughan Roderick has revealed on maes-e.com that he will be the author of BBC Cymru's Welsh language blog on the elections, and tells the members of maes-e (just about everyone in the Welsh language internet scene as well as the Welsh Rock scene): "I hope the blog will be entertaining enough to attract readers and contributions but as its future and the hope of getting more Welsh language blogs on BBC Cymru'r Byd depends on its success I'd be thankful if you'd call by".
As can be seen it says that 'just about everyone on in the Welsh language internet scene as well as the Welsh Rock Scene use Maes-e.
