Merging[edit]

I've suggested merging Antarcto and 1A (comics) into this article. My reasoning is: at the moment, there's very little at either of these articles with no visible means of expansion, and only one page other than this page that links to them (a list of orphan articles for Antarcto, and a disambig page for 1A). g026r 15:44, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

1A seems to have already been merged. I have no problem with merging this article into Magnus, though it probably should go under the Gold key section, as I don't believe it was ever mentioned in the Valiant series (though I could be wrong on that).--Robbstrd 18:29, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
1-A does appear as a supporting character in the Valiant series.Xbriskox (talk) 20:47, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Comics B-Class Assesment required[edit]

This article needs the B-Class checklist filled in to remain a B-Class article for the Comics WikiProject. If the checklist is not filled in by 7th August this article will be re-assessed as C-Class. The checklist should be filled out referencing the guidance given at Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment/B-Class criteria. For further details please contact the Comics WikiProject. Comics Info Box[edit]

Should this article have a comics info box? Magnus seems like an important enough character to warrant it (though personally I think all comics characters deserve them).Xbriskox (talk) 16:00, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody seems to object, so I added a comics info box.Xbriskox (talk) 20:44, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Recent Bankruptcy[edit]

"... in light of their recent bankruptcy."

This should be rewritten to indicate a date, rather than "recent".

Try saying that five times fast[edit]

"Where Tarzan was a human raised as a noble savage feral child by African great apes who brought his naturalistic worldview and opposition to runaway commercial industry to bear against a decadent and rapacious human civilization consumed by its own sense of manifest destiny, Magnus was a human raised as an ethical scientist by an Antarctican artificial intelligence who brought his individualistic worldview and opposition to runaway technological conformity to bear against an even more decadent and complacent human civilization doomed by its own hedonistic self-absorption."

Cripes, take a breath and get an editor.71.112.38.38 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 21:41, 18 November 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Dark Horse[edit]

Woohoo! Magnus for the 21st century! I hope it does well, and i hope we can expand it here. Maybe it will be a notable enough series to qualify for its own article.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 06:09, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Influence on Hayao Miyazaki[edit]

Magnus was a big influence on the film Laputa: Castle in the Sky by Hayao Miyazaki. Even in details: The Robot that has been shot to pieces puts itself back together. Then it gently offers a flower to the girl heroine. These details appeared in the Magnus story "The World of Mogul Badur" Das Baz, aka Erudil 19:21, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dynamite Entertainment[edit]

Dynamite Entertainment has acquired the rights to publish Magnus, along with three other Gold Key characters: Turok, Solar and Dr. Spektor. [1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.66.222.115 (talk) 03:27, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Parodies[edit]

There were a number of parodies, notably "Mangle, Robot Mangler" in the Underground comic, Slow Death #4 (1972). Unlike Magnus who went after criminal or our of control robots, Mangle just likes smashing robots. The robots get upset over this and build their own human like robot (MADA, Adam backwards) made of organic plastic. It is stronger and faster than Mangle, and in a fight, smashes his arms and legs revealing steel re-enforcement bars in them. It then rips off his arms and legs. This did not hurt Mangle as much as the fact that his girlfriend Jeela had sex with this inhuman creation but not with him. The story ends with a limb-less Mangle in a catatonic state in a hospital bed. (95.210.108.7 (talk) 12:37, 23 August 2016 (UTC))[reply]
