makaravilakku, as the name expresses the idea of manually lighting deepam. But it is not known to the laypeople. So it is necessary to communicate and educate them for avoiding superstitious thoughts. The great almighty LORD AYYAPPA has the prominence in the mind of devotees without this artificially created phenomenon. Our predecessors told us another story regarding makaravilakku, that at that time when makarasamkranthi happens, in ponnamabalamedu the adivasi gothra celebrates their devotional acharam. Then htey lit deepa in connenction with their celebration. The devoties of THELORD AYYAPPA belive that the deepa glows there, was the blessing of Ayyappa. This belief makes nothing wrong to the society and they gets more courage wille seeing the makaradeepam. But now devotees are in a manner to believe this as superstitious, and ready to loose their lifes for getting the view of makaradeepam. This is ridiculas and come the necesity of awaring them to avoid calamities.I think this superstitious thought now keeps for, only the business of travancore devaswom board.so it is very much essencial to aware the devotees the right message unless the future will treat this as a criminal ignorance.GOPAKUMARGOVINDANNAIR — Preceding unsigned comment added by Va4712454640 (talkcontribs) 08:40, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid I don't understand what you want. Do you want to add facts to the article? Can you supply a reliable source? I'm willing to help, but I don't follow. --Muhandes (talk) 10:46, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
