Note on importance and relevance: Indian culture and art is one of the oldest and most important worldwide. With the growing economy and wealth of Indians, appreciation and collection of Indian art will certainly grow. This happened to China since 10-15 years, and their art is now soaring in price and demand.
Manishi Dey belongs to one of the prominent artist families in India. He is a "2nd tier" artist, eg among the top 50-100 artists of India, and his works have been sold in auctions since the 1920, often joined with premier Indian artists like Amrita Sher-Gil, Indias Frida Kahlo. In recent times, his works were sold by Bonhams (2005) and Sotheby's (1999). They are exhibited in several National Galleries and Museums.
A Wikipedia article about Manishi Dey is therefore well justified, as his brother Mukul Dey has an article since years.Mundugumor (talk) 01:26, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
