Cleanup[edit]

Where did this all come from? There are no citations whatsoever. The entire page needs a cleanup. Thesilence 14:18, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • After a month, I've added a cleanup tag. The page has no citations for this information, and some of the information sounds like it's a bit NPOV - intermarriages between the Goldmans, Sachs and Weinbergs?. It's also a bit narrative - push carts? Also the repeated references to "German-Jewish" bankers sounds a bit funny to me. --Thesilence 19:24, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • Made an effort to make this article better fit standard biography style and fix the tone. Got rid of some of the subjective comments as well It still needs sources and probably more editing to make it's tone more fitting for a wikipedia article. --Lendorien 00:24, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This information appears to stem from Lisa Endlich's book "Goldman Sachs - The culture of success". The phrases follow the exact same ductus as on the first two pages of the book.

By the way: Marcus Goldman was a former teacher himself and not the son of a former teacher.

"Marcus Goldman, a former schoolteacher and the son of a peasant dealing in cattle[...]" - Lisa Endlich's book p. 32

If your father were a teacher and a peasant at the same time he probably would have not even had time to beget you.
