Year of Birth[edit]

I believe the year of birth, 1926, to be incorrect, and I have several times placed [?] behind it, only to have it removed. "Find-a-Grave" lists the date of Miss Piazza's father's death as 1923. The soprano, in her autobiography, writes that her father died when she was "only four." Also, Loyola University gives the date of her graduation there as 1940. If she was born in 1926, she would have been fourteen at the time. Impossible! 1919 would seem about right, making her twenty-one at the time of graduation. Additionally, she was Queen of the Krewe of Virgilians in 1935, and the photographs (vide page 80, Italians in New Orleans (2004) show a beautiful young woman, hardly a nine-year-old. :: Agreed -- 1926 seems impossible. Ancestry.com gives 1921. Quis separabit? 20:54, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ancestry.com gives September 23, 1921 —there is no reason to assume the May 6 date of birth is unassailable, although I agree people are more likely to tend to obfuscate the year of birth, not the date. 1919 is not likely as she is not included in her parents' 1920 census record entry. May 6, 1920 is correct date of birth (Bergtholdt was surname of her last husband, with whom she is interred.) Quis separabit? 02:04, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
