Rail center[edit]

The line connecting Cleveland and Indianapolis is a CSX line; I know this, because the same line passes through my hometown of Bellefontaine. However, I also seem to remember a Conrail yard still operating in Marion, so I didn't replace Conrail with CSX... despite my belief that Conrail no longer operates a mainline running out of Marion. I leave it to one more familiar with railroading in Marion to correct to proper syntax. -- SwissCelt 13:37, 22 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Huey Lewis[edit]

Lewis himself makes the claim that he lived in Marion for a time. The following article, from a concert appearance in 1999, cites this: http://www.hln.org/articles/032.shtml -- SwissCelt 04:03, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rod Serling[edit]

Didn't Rod Serling live in Marion? I seem to remember that he worked at WMRN for a while.

Norman M Thomas[edit]

Under History, the 4th paragraph states that Norman Matoon Thomas was a co-founder of the ACLU. But if you follow the link for ACLU, the Wikipedia article on the ACLU, makes no mention of him. In fact it states that Crystal Eastman and Roger Baldwin are co-founders in 1920. So this appears to be in conflict with the ACLU article. Multitask 22:06, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • then the ACLU article is incorrect. Thomas was one of the ACLUs architects and founders.Sjkoblentz (talk) 16:24, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hockey arena[edit]

Does anyone know which hockey arena that the Marion Barons would have played in during 1953-54? Flibirigit (talk) 12:02, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm guessing it would be the Veterans Memorial Coliseum (Marion)? Flibirigit (talk) 12:09, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Marion's Namesake[edit]

Sadly, this article fails to mention who our county and city was named after. Marion county and the city of Marion,OH were named after and honor the American patriot Francis Marion nicknamed "The Swampfox". Marion fought in the French and Indian War and was a lieutenent-colonel and promoted to Brigadier General during the American Revolutionary War. "The Swamp Fox" is recognized as one of the founding fathers of modern guerilla warfare tactics. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Caliboots059 (talkcontribs) 09:18, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • It has been noted, with a wiki link, that the town was named in Marion's honor. However, it is not necessary to go into any further detail as the article on Francis Marion, itself is the place to discuss his life and accomplishments. It should be noted that Francis Marion died 30 years before Marion, Ohio was founded, and the same year that the Northwest Territory was opened to settlement. Marion, himself, had absolutely no involvement with Marion County Ohio, or Marion, Ohio. Furthermore, while he is the namesake of the community, he has never been honored with any type of public celebration, festival, parade, etc. within Marion or Marion County Ohio. So Marion lives on in Marion, but in name only. Sjkoblentz (talk) 16:21, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Needs Needs Citations and proofing[edit]

I just removed several sentences because they were either POV, or blantantly false. One statement alluding to a "Dog and Pony Show", is not only false, but sophmoric at best. Apparently, the article has also been hit by the people behind the "spooky Marion" movement who deal in sensationalism and not NPOV writing. Sjkoblentz (talk) 17:16, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism by IP 204.115.199.6[edit]

It should be noted that a someone using IP 204.115.199.6 address has been vandalizing the Marion, Ohio by adding the "City of Kings" as Marion's also known a name (nicknames). NO such name is seriously applied to Marion or used in its promotion or otherwise accepted by the residents, Marion Convention and Visitors Bureau or any other agency, legitimate group or association. The term "City of Kings is applied by one person on Tumblr who purports this to be a fact, and uses it in the "pseudo blog" City of Marion" that holds no official sanction. As such, and under Wikipedia rules, it is NOT an accepted source of legitimacy. Sjkoblentz (talk) 16:02, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
