Date of Death[edit]

Until it can be sourced that Hill died on May 27, please leave it as May 28, when we know for certain he was deceased. We do NOT know for certain he died on May 27. Pats1 23:11, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're right. He probably treaded water for nearly 16+ hours.
The accident occured around 9:30 PM local time. I don't think it's unrealistic to think he was able to stay alive for a few hours. That's besides the point though. Saying he died on May 27 is speculation. Saying he died on May 28 is more concrete. Pats1 02:18, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed the death date. Additionally, his NFL.com profile (which I assume is fairly reliable) gives his birthdate as August 7, not 8 so I changed that as well.--68.78.79.53 12:59, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see. Well, following your line of thought (and I appreciate everyone's desire to stick with published sources), it is also speculation that he died on the 28th. As far as reliable sources go, we just don't yet know on what day he died. Therefore listing the 28th is equally inappropriate and for the same reasons - unless we've got a policy somewhere that says "substitute date body recovered for death date if death date is not known." At the very least we should make a note that the 28th is the day his body was recovered and death date is not yet known. This, at least, is in keeping with our sources.
