Notability of subject[edit]

I have removed a tag that claims the subject's notability is in question and that the article lacks proper referencing. I am confused by both claims. The subject is a well-respected professor, writer and filmmaker. The article also offers references to confirm these claims. I am also bothered that an attempt was made to put the article up for Speedy Delete without notifying the article's creator (in this case, me).
