Added Info[edit]

I have added a bunch of info from the "Greatest Show on Turf" page... it was not written up by me, but by User:IndyFanSinceMarshallFaulk. If you want to pare down some of the info (since much of it is very exhaustive) you may.

Marshall, to me, is THE best all purpose back in recent NFL history. He's not the biggest guy out there, but he is very elusive, much like Barry Sanders. I still like to watch him on the field whether he's running or catching the ball, or putting a block on someone.

What exactly has Indianapolis "dominated for years"? That is an obviously biased statement. Also, telling us that the colts took Edgerrin James on Marshall Faulk's bio is nonsensical.

A full edit of this page is needed. Marshall Faulk only played in Indianapolis for 1 season before going to the rams, so im not sure where you got your sources form but their wrong —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.12.221.202 (talk) 07:44, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do not remove images[edit]

IF anything, downsize them. They are fair use in this article and even more in their respective sections. Crazy Canadian 21:20, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think an article about such an explosive athlete should have a better picture than him sitting down playing video games. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.163.195.52 (talk) 17:52, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Madden2003Box.jpg[edit]

The image Image:Madden2003Box.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Another image problem[edit]

I removed the image that was in the infobox - File:Rose McGowan and Mrashall Faulk Kuwait City 100331-N-0696M-281.jpg. That really doesn't look anything like Marshall Faulk to me, and the original Flickr source[1] not only does not identify the guy as Marshall Faulk but does not list Faulk as one of the celebrities on the USO tour.--Kubigula (talk) 04:41, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Faulk listed on NFL Top 100[edit]

Marshall Faulk was ranked #70 on the NFL Channel's The Top 100 Greatest Players. (2010). Presenter: Kurt Warner.Cjstanonis (talk) 14:08, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Noting MVPs[edit]

@Lizard the Wizard: So I thought that for the earlier years we list all of the MVPs because of AP's absence/ambiguity, but for modern ones, we use AP's. However, if that's not how its usually done, I'm fine with that, I was just under the other impression. In my opinion, I don't really like it becomes like video game getting Game of the Year's, where like every game eventually gets an award so it doesn't mean much. But again, if that's the norm, I'm fine with it.

Also, MVPs they were awarded but not on their pages

Bigmoe797 (talk) 23:15, 29 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Bigmoe797: We list all of the MVPs because until very recently, there was no one selector's award that was perceived as more "prestigious" than any of the others. See my explanation at Talk:Phil Simms. This is why I'm strongly against notating MVPs in stats tables. It's a slippery slope; noting only the AP award gives the impression that it was always seen as the MVP award, while noting all MVPs just adds more confusion. It's not cut-and-dried like the NBA or MLB. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Welcome to the world of football awards. The "everyone gets a trophy" mentality is why they're not taken nearly as seriously as in other sports. Lizard (talk) 00:24, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks for the info, I was unaware that it was up to very recently. Where would you say is the cutoff point, the 2011 NFL Honors? Bigmoe797 (talk) 01:08, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The cutoff point is unclear, but the 2011 NFL honors can definitely be seen as the point in which the AP definitively took over as the primary awardee of NFL awards. But I'm still reluctant, since the PFWA MVP still gets major media recognition. As far as major U.S. newspapers go, you can't get much better than recognition from The Washington Post.
