The Call of the Wild[edit]

The novel's opening scene is a description of our Santa Clara, California farm that London visited in 1901. The description of my grandfathers papers left at Yale written by Reference Librarians at Yale University are a reputable source. The business relationship between the brothers and their father Judge Hiram Bond is misdescribed hence confusion over ownership of the sledgedog. Marshall was Executive and Louis was there representing their father as Comptroller. comment added by RichardBond (talk) 14:11, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Membership in Bohemian Club?[edit]

During the summer of 1997 I was travelling between Boston and Marthas Vineyard through Woods Hole and stopped to see if I could meet Dr. Charles Davis Hollister of the prominent Santa Barbara, California family former owners of the Hollister Ranch who was then Director of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. Luckily he was in and I was able to able to have lunch with him. We discussed the memories of each others families who had known each other since Marshall Latham Bond and John James Hollister were students at Stanford University School of Mining in 1891. One thing that came up was the Bohemian Club where the Hollisters were members. I knew of my grandfather's and father's membership in various clubs around San Francisco like the Pacific-Union Club and University Club, the Burlingame Club in Burlingame, California the Saint Claire Club in San Jose, California and involvement with the Polo Club at Coyote Point Park in San Mateo, California. I have no recollection of any conversation or letter mentioning the Bohemian Club. However Charlie pointed out my family having been important in the life of Jack London being a friend of poet George Sterling and knowing Ambrose Bierce, John Muir, Gelett Burgess. Charlie said he was pretty sure that they were members as his family was and being close to his family and those authors and joining everything else they were probably members of Bohemian as well.
