Slavery[edit]

Marx Edgeworth Lazarus descended on each side from two prominent slave-holding families. His father was a slave owner. Is it known if Lazarus ever owned slaves? As an abolitionist activist, did he ever have conflicts with his family over his anti-slavery views? He did serve for the Confederacy.
