Is a separate article needed?[edit]

At best, this article is little more than an inflated stub, with lots of structural filler but not much actual content. It also contains serious errors, such as a separate Department of Linguistics and a Department of Philosophy (they have never existed separately, but were jointly created as the Department of Linguistics and Philosophy). Wikipedia articles covering larger schools such as Harvard, Yale, Cornell, UChicago, UMich, and UCBerkeley work well without needing a separate "academics" article. I think that coverage of academics should remain in the main MIT article, until/unless it becomes so large that it can be split off as a separate article.

This stub has languished as a nearly-dead fork, with little improvement for almost a decade. Unless it is fixed up and expanded soon, I suggest replacing it with a redirect to the main MIT article, and focussing editorial effort there, where it will actually be seen by readers. I challenge other editors to find any substantial or useful separate "academics" articles associated with other university articles. Reify-tech (talk) 20:32, 28 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
