Untitled[edit]

Massapequa is also referenced to in the movie "Kate & Leopold" (2001) starring Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman. At the end of the movie Leopold announces who he is going to marry. He states that "It is Kate McKay of the..." and Kate quickly completes that sentence by saying "Kate McKay of the Massapequa McKays." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.153.5.196 (talkcontribs) 17:23, 25 May 2006‎

Massapequa is a resort town, it reminds some New Yorkers of being in California, on the other side of the country. There is a large LGBT presence, not far is Fire Island off the south shore of Long Island. It does have a birth boom lately, probably there's a fertility clinic in the area. 2605:E000:100D:C32F:1435:A112:765F:4D89 (talk) 22:42, 2 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Famous Residents[edit]

This section should be cleaned up - it's repetitive and disorganised. I think we should turn it into a bulleted list rather than paragraphs. Does anyone have any objections? --DearPrudence 16:45, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed- by the way, what's with the one "Possibly Massapequa's..." which goes on to describe the senior (obviously vandalism/a joke)? It is not present on the "Edit" section whn i tried to remove it...— Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.167.137.171 (talkcontribs) 20:38, 10 March 2008‎
But when i went back after 5 times, it was gone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.167.137.171 (talkcontribs) 20:39, 10 March 2008‎

The map[edit]

I'm sure the map of Massapequa is wrong - it doesn't even include Massapequa High School, or Berner Junior High, which used to be Massapequa's other high school. The area from Breezy Point east to County Line Road used to be known as "East Massapequa" if you subscribed to the notion that Amityville was strictly in Suffolk county, but people who lived there back in the 60's and 70's, and probably before that and maybe after, were in a sort of legal limbo - they didn't have access to either the Oyster Bay or Babylon parks and beaches - I know, because my grandmother lived there, on Clocks Boulevard. But I'm sure Massapequa proper is horseshoe shaped, with Massapequa Park inside it, and exetending east at least as far as Carmen's Road (so it includes Berner), and by now possibly as far as County Line Road. I grew up in Nassau Shores, east of the highlighted area on the map, and it was always "Massapequa". Never "East Massapequa" or anything else.

Alexgriz (talk) 11:26, 24 July 2008 (UTC) these days "east Massapequa" is refereed to as "East Massapequa" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.191.218.21 (talk) 16:40, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
