As conductor of Bruckner's music[edit]

Matthew Best with the Corydon Singers and Orchestra is one of the better performers of Bruckner's religious music. His CDs with performances of Bruckner's Requiem, Mass No. 2 (1882 version), and Psalms 114 and 112 are as yet possibly the nec plus ultra. His performances of Masses Nos. 1 and 3, Aequali, Libera me (II), Te Deum and Psalm 150 are also among the better ones, as well his CD devoted to Bruckner's motets. --Réginald alias Meneerke bloem (To reply) 19:12, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Your heartfelt endorsement is not an objective statement of fact. If there is an overwhelming critical consensus in support of your point of view, it should be explicitly documented. Absent that, I believe this entire section should be removed. 50.237.5.2 (talk) 06:14, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • This endorsment is based on the critical discography of Bruckner's vocal and choral works by Hans Roelofs. Roelofs received the Julio Kilenyi Medal of Honor for his for their exemplary work in furthering the understanding and appreciation of the life and work of Anton Bruckner (see: The Bruckner Society of America awards the Kilenyi Medal of Honor to Discographer Hans Roelofs. --Réginald alias Meneerke bloem (To reply) 14:01, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • I'm familiar with Hans Roelofs, but the fact that he's a distinguished Brucknerian does not change the fact you're cherrypicking reviews--in this case, one review--to corroborate your personal feelings on the subject. Beyond that, the article as written suggests that Bruckner is the main focus of Best's repertoire, which is patently untrue. He has recorded an equal amount of Vaughan Williams, multiple Rachmaninoff records, and the list goes on. Providing an irrationally selective, Bruckner only discography distorts his career along "expresio unius est exclusio alterius" lines. This discography should either be expanded to provide proper context, or removed altogether. 50.237.5.2 (talk) 05:24, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
