Possible typo?[edit]

In the section on Steam engine manufacture: "He designed a special planning machine for planning the faces of the slide valves."

Should this be planing (as in plane (tool)), rather than planning (as in plan)? EdJogg (talk) 11:22, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it should have been planing. I have corrected it. Dposte46 (talk) 09:31, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It did seem pretty likely, but I wanted a second opinion! Thanks.
Incidentally, plane (tool) only covers woodworking tools.

Have investigated further, and found that Planer (metalworking) exists.
Would this be an appropriate wikilink here? EdJogg (talk) 09:58, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
linked as requested, but Planer (metalworking) probably needs a historical section, as the present article merely describes the modern tool. I have also added a cross reference to plane (tool). Peterkingiron (talk) 13:02, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
