K'àak' Chi'[edit]

The hypothetical archaeological site K'àak' Chi', proposed in May 2016, if/when confirmed can then perhaps be added to the list with Estimated populations.

As well, William Gadoury's system of mapping site and population by correspondence with Mayan constellations may add new dimensions to the article... DadaNeem (talk) 03:01, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A hypothetical site does not belong here, and claims that it would be the fourth largest need to be taken with a pinch of salt, especially when it is described as having just one pyramid. If confirmed on the ground, a more appropriate place would be List of Maya sites. In any case, we need to await the archaelogical studies. As far as I can see, the news reports are driven by social media, so not particularly reliable. I have been unable to find any scholarly references at all. We'll just have to see how this plays out, without giving undue weight to the news reports - new sites are found quite frequently. Simon Burchell (talk) 09:49, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This article is worth reading, the only one I've found that actually spoke to a Mayanist (David Stuart) - which introduces a healthy dose of scepticism. Simon Burchell (talk) 11:45, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
