Notability[edit]

- This page was originally created as a translation of the same page in Arabic wiki - The subject of the article is one of Syria's most prominent post-civil war businessmen, described as such by several reliable sources in mainstream media including the Washington Post, AFP, and several books on Syria - The subject is sanctioned by the EU and UK treasury, who describe him as one of Syria's most prominent businessmen

Misinformation[edit]

Much of the information on this page is not backed by verified sources and has the potential to cause serious and irreparable harm to the individual in question. While articles have been cited, these articles are not based in fact.

For example, this individual claims to never have been part of the Syrian Iranian Business council and the website that is cited regarding this information presents no evidence that this is the case and specifically says that the information on the website is to be taken as opinion and is not to be relied on.

Another example is regarding his business dealings with the French - Syrian businessman Bashar Kiwan with whom the relationship between the parties was severed in 2007. Again the article cited here presents no evidence that such a relationship continues to exist.

The article also states that Mazen Al Tarazi is involved in major construction and aviation activities in Syria. The EU listing that the article cites makes no claim that these articles are ongoing and simply states that the individual has been alleged to have agreed to contracts in these fields, no contracts were executed or acted upon yet the article makes it seem like these activities are ongoing.

While I acknowledge the fact that all information, good or bad, needs to be shared if we are to have true freedom of information. It is imperative that such information needs to be accurate so that people aren’t unfairly harmed as a result.
