Please help to improve and expand this article --Elena Patrise (talk) 19:56, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, just seeing now that the article was deleted as I was about to add to it. Could you let us know why you deleted the article, Sulfurboy and JJMC89? Fouadas (talk) 08:33, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was alerted to this article as a participant in Art+Feminism (hence otherwise inexplicable appearance here). I think I know what happened here. User:Elena Patrise moved a daft into mainspace [1] User:Sulfurboy then moved it back to the Draft space but didn't tell the creator of the article. [2]. Because they don't have the page mover userright, that move left a redirect from mainspace to draftspace. Such redirects are eligible for speedy deletion, under criterion R2, so User:JJMC89 cleaned up the redirect left behind by Sulfurboy. I think all involved acted in good faith, but please people: be more careful with new good-faith users who organize edit-a-thons, bring in new editors only to find their work suddenly disappearing without any explanation. This kind of "welcome to Wikipedia" is costing us new good-faith editors and our reputation. Sulfurboy, please be more careful. Vexations (talk) 14:41, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I was under the impression that a page move creates an auto-generated user notification for the page creator? Is that not right? Sulfurboy (talk) 14:47, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sulfurboy You might want to use User:Evad37/MoveToDraft, which does. I'm not sure I understand why you draftified the article though. What is wrong with it, you think? Vexations (talk) 15:03, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've now requested permission to use that tool to avoid this in the future. As to issues with the article, if the article has AfC markup and it didn't go through the proper AfC process I will typically move it back unless it clearly meets subject specific guidelines. Since this article will likely have to hinge on WP:GNG it needs to be reviewed, because from my quick eye I'm not seeing readily apparent secondary coverage that would overwhelmingly show it passes GNG. Thanks for pointing out though that how I've been doing the process may confuse page creators, I had no idea it didn't send them auto-generated alerts and was apparently under an incorrect assumption.Sulfurboy (talk) 15:16, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for stepping up Vexations to find out - and thanks Sulfurboy for elaborating on what happened. I'm new here and it's good to know that Wikipedia editors take the time to explain these kind of glitches to prevent them in future. We'll continue working on the article, thanks again.
