Allegations[edit]

Why is Mailhot’s allegation not “reliable”? Wikipedia articles often refer to on-the-record allegations. The allegation is not anonymous. Heebiggreen86 (talk) 16:37, 29 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have just explained on your own talk page that you may not use social media as a reliable source of allegations in articles about living people. Read WP:TWITTER to understand that we permit very limited use of social media on Wikipedia. Once an accusation has been picked up by proper news outlets with editorial controls, standards and checks & balances, then that's a different matter. Until then, nothing anyone accuses anyone else of doing via a tweet or FB post is sufficient for you to put allegations into Wikipedia. We follow what reliably published sources say; we do not lead with social media tittle-tattle and solitary accusations. Breaching our WP:BLP guidelines could lead to an editor being blocked, as we have obligations to protect the reputations of subjects until such time as allegations and prosecutions are reported properly. Best advice is to stay away from social media. Nick Moyes (talk) 19:06, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
