I understand that the name of the product is "mental ray", but surely it becomes "Mental ray" at the beginning of a sentence, like any other word beginning with a lower-case letter. What is Wikipedia's policy on this?

If mental images do not permit their product to be capitalised (although they are not at liberty to enforce changes to the rules of English grammar), then perhaps it would be wise to avoid using it at the beginning of a sentence (for example, replacing "mental ray is..." with "The product mental ray is..."). — Paul G 09:38, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are right. They don't get to change the English language! Silversmith Hewwo 23:07, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why does the article contain this crap about mental ray vs PRMan (not PRman!)? This is Wikipedia and not some marketing ad or a magazine article comparing renderers. There are so many features where PRMan has a first that even mentioning the one where mental ray had an implementation earlier (and not first, there were others long before) seems silly at best. Even more so in the first paragraph of an article. If this article is seriously about mental ray, it should talk about mental ray, not what features other products had when or why. Read: I very much suggest to take this entire sentence out.

Houdini does not use Mental Ray. You should correct this. Softimage, Maya, and 3Ds Max do. - PCC —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.125.71.172 (talk) 15:05, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No graphics[edit]

Can someone please upload an image or two that showcases this software?

I've added an image. I'd like to add a few more, demonstrating specific features of mental ray, if people think that would be ok? Zzubnik (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 15:20, 14 October 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Mental rayMental Ray – A recent edit removed this article's lower-case-heading status, and converted (almost) all uses of "mental ray" to "Mental Ray", with reference to MOS:CAPS. Assuming this change was correct (which it does seem to be), the article should be moved to "Mental Ray"—but that already exists as a redirect to this article (with edit history, so even if it were uncontroversial, I couldn't make the move myself). • Speedy rename per nom. This is not about "rays" that affect the mind, nor is it about fish. -- 65.94.169.222 (talk) 07:47, 24 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
