It appears Reagle died on Saturday 22 August 2015 in Tampa, FL

From Facebook user Amy Reynaldo, relaying information from Lloyd Mazer:

"I sent a reminder to him Thursday morning for the puzzle and his wife, Marie, responded that he was taken ill Thursday morning with severe stomach pain. It was pancreatitis and gall stones. The pancreatitis was very severe and Marie called me this morning to let me know he passed away. I happen to be in Tampa and was planning to visit Merl at the hospital this afternoon. This is very sad." Acute pancreatitis from gallstones is not often fatal, so this is especially shocking. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tplambeck (talkcontribs) 13:45, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
