Battle of Merseburg[edit]

This battle was fought in 933, not 934.

Archives in Merseburg[edit]

I would like to suggest that you discuss the history of the holdings of the East German portion of the Geheimes Staatsarchiv Preußischer Kulturbesitz, formerly held in an archives building (which I visited several times) in Merseburg. The part that I have in mind is that portion of the archives found in East Germany during the time of the German Democratic Republic. These archives "belonged" to the Geheimes Staatarchiv Preußischer Kulturbesitz (which was in West Berlin) and was returned to that institution in 1993/1994. See [1]. It is my understanding that the building in Merseburg, which housed those holdings, now houses the archives of East German companies, many no longer in existence, but you would have to verify that. There were, of course, several other provincial and/or local archives in Merseburg. I do not know what happened to those holdings and never visited them, but I suppose that they continue their functions as before. Mr. Posen (talk) 19:21, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
