Not a spin-off![edit]

Metal Gear Solid Mobile is not a spin-off. It takes place between MGS1 and MGS2 and is part of the main series. It's true, I'm not lying.

-The non-canonical Metal Gear games have their setting in relation to the canon titles. Until Kojima announces it as canon, the events of the game are referenced in canon titles as having officially taken place, or some other substantial thing happens that indicates its part of the main series(the end of Metal Gear Saga Vol. 2 shows all of the canon titles and Mobile wasn't one of them and it had been released before Vol. 2) we don't have any reason to call it anything but a spin-off. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.72.213.29 (talk) 00:38, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All sources clearly state that MGS: Mobile is canon because the game DOES take place between the events of MGS1 and MGS2.SchumiChamp (talk) 12:59, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

-If they clearly stated it was canon, they would state "IT IS CANON!!!" like they did for MPO. Setting doesn't make it canon. Metal Gear Ac!d takes place after MG and MG2. Doesn't make the Ac!d series canon. One of the following things must happen if Mobile really is canon: 1. A Kojima Productions member states in an interview that Mobile actually is part of the main storyline and not some spin-off based off of the main storyline like the other non-canonical titles are. 2. MGS4 mentions the story of Mobile as having happened. And even better, they show footage of it in the form of flashbacks like they are doing with all the other canon titles. 3. Kojima Productions does something like they did at the end of Metal Gear Saga Vol. 2 in which they showed the official timeline as well as footage from all canon titles. But since they did not include Mobile last time even though that game was out, I doubt they'd do it next time. So until some hard evidence comes out that Mobile is canon, it is just some non-canonical spin-off that happens to be based off of the main series like the other non-canonical spin-offs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.72.213.29 (talk) 13:16, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

-I just read through an interview dealing with Mobile.

IGN: Will Metal Gear Solid Mobile tie in directly to any of the other games, or is it a stand alone experience?
Chad: It's a stand alone experience. I think that this was a key thing to Konami and Kojima, to make this a stand alone experience, but still tie in with the Metal Gear series.

So it's confirmed to be a spinoff. If the events of Mobile were canon, it wouldn't be standalone. It's tie in with the main series is that it uses the story from the main series as it's backstory as opposed to adding into the story of the main series. This is much like how the Ac!d series uses MG1 and MG2 as it's backstory even though Ac!d itself isn't canon. So hopefully this clears everything up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.72.213.29 (talk) 02:11, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The newly-released Metal Gear Solid 4 Database makes no mention of MGS Mobile or the events that take place in it. I'd say that's a pretty good indication that this game is not canon. 66.30.241.109 (talk) 20:20, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
