Is this the 90's?[edit]

COI[edit]

Hello - I'm currently working on the Hatteras Networks page (please see my COI declaration at Talk:Hatteras_Networks) and have added the company to the list of vendors supplying Metro Ethernet equipment. I have linked the two articles, as the Hatteras article currently is noted as an orphan. About three years later, and that link is no longer in this article (and that article's name was changed too, evidently due to a merger) so the COI template can probably go away. Rewrite[edit]

This article needs to be almost entirely rewritten. A very small portion of the article is sourced (there are multiple large unsourced sections), much of the formatting is inconsistent or incorrect, there are many instances of second-person pronouns, etc. As I have time I will begin trimming down the article; anyone who's willing please be bold to improve the article, keeping in mind the standards of verifiability and neutrality. —danhash (talk) 00:06, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, high time for a re-write.[edit]

I agree with the suggestion that this be re-done under the title "Carrier Ethernet," since that's less ambiguous nowadays. Also, capitalization matters: the Metropolitan Area Ethernet, the MAE, was the first IXP. A metropolitan area Ethernet is a metro-scale Ethernet WAN. So, yeah.
