Comment by Lgarfunkle29[edit]

Many times, China's strife during the 1940's is overlooked by Western cultures who focus on World War II as it unfolded in Europe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lgarfunkle29 (talkcontribs)

I have read Kwan's book 'Things that must not be forgotten'. It has been very, very interesting and should be read by all who want to understand China today because it is valuable to understand how a people develop their policies, attitudes, mentalities, whatever. As China and the Chinese people become more important in the world, this book contributes to understanding. (A similarly important book about Iran is 'Daughter of Persia', by Sattareh Farmanfarmian). Why am I saying all this? We often shake our heads when we hear what our governments are saying and doing. They appear ignorant and crass like elephants in a China shop. It would be my hope that some aquire a bit of knowledge.144.136.192.79 (talk) 02:24, 18 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
