Copyright violation[edit]

I removed a bunch of text that came directly (verbatim) from Jackson's own website, [1] (the biography page). --MrBoo (talk, contribs) 18:19, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed Deletion[edit]

This article has many quality issues, but the notobility of the subject is not one of them. KABC is the dominant news/talk station in the second largest media market in the United States and he worked there for 30 years. He was named to the Radio Hall of Fame in 2003 [2], which is -the- industry organization which tracks important people in the radio business. The definition of notability is that they met the criteria at some point in time, not that he is currently well known.StreamingRadioGuide (talk) 08:09, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As a college professor, I strongly agree with the comment above! "Notability" does not mean "must be instantly familiar to the average male, 20-something Wiki editor." Someday soon Johnny Carson won't meet that standard. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia which should enlarge one's frame of reference beyond the moment. Profhum (talk) 08:28, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Stations began to abandon balance[edit]

If THAT isn't a POV phrase, then I'll never know what one looks like. Lifted directly from the article, it implies that stations, out of the blue, IMPOSED the new conservative atmosphere on their listeners. When, in truth, the American listening public had LONG tired of the constant drum-beat of the uninterrupted liberal slant of the airwaves. When finally the opposing view could be aired without having the "FD" baggage being dragged along, the public response was immediate and strong. It took off immediately. The opposing point of view caught on, listenership blossomed, and advertisers wanted to be associated with the hosts. Ratings of the other side dropped abruptly and advertisers were few and far between.

If there WERE still a market for the pearls they were wont to provide, surely they could attract enough of an audience to be successful. I think the whole situation might be termed as "the free and open market is speaking and has spoken". Forcing stations back to the de facto state of censorship under the false facade of FD is inane nonsense.

I'll leave it for others what might be the better phrase to edit the article to, and purge the "began to abandon balance" prattling blather. 63.194.45.199 (talk) 19:03, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

star on Hollywood Walk of Fame, after death of King of Pop[edit]

On 25 June 2009, after the death of the King of Pop, fans gathered around the star of the other Michael Jackson. Per this news item, I've updated the List of stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to reflect the pop star at 6927 Hollywood Blvd., and the radio commentator at 1541 Vine St. — Hiplibrarianship (talk) 01:09, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I heard about that on Fox News.[3]. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.197.35.110 (talkcontribs) 04:34, June 26, 2009

"I am willingly loan it to him"[edit]

That is terrible english. Are you sure that's the direct quote? Zazaban (talk) 06:42, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

With his background, I am sure he knows the English language perfectly, and this is just an oversight on his part. Regardless, the grammatically problematic quote given above is correct, but it has since been changed to the incorrect (but gramatically correct) in the wiki article itself. You can check it here (with new updates to his site it may not appear on the frontpage anymore – if so, click on the journal for 25 June 2009). 212.10.90.224 (talk) 07:53, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have now corrected the quote in the article with square brackets, to indicate that it has been modified compared to his original quote. 212.10.90.38 (talk) 03:11, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
