Needs Upgrade[edit]

Owens revolutionized the glass industry. His automation enabled standardation of containers, and made the glass-industry practice of using child labor obsolete. Although his machines decreased the demand for the services of skilled glass blowers, they increased employment because they created a new market of glass bottle users. Owens was an early user of standardized parts. He was a pioneer in organized R&D. Owens has 49 patents! Owens should be considered in the same "league" as Thomas Edison and Henry Ford, yet we have this tiny Wikipedia article. Somebody needs to upgrade this article.
