Photographer?[edit]

The article tells us that according to "Hogan P: The Tigers Of Old , Richmond FC, (Melbourne), 1996", He went on to conduct a photography business. What does P Hogan (or anyone else) say about this? -- Hoary (talk) 06:33, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hogan P., The Tigers Of Old , Richmond FC, (Melbourne), 1996, p.176: "He [Mike Perry] now runs his own photography business, as well as being active in the Richmond Former Players' and Officials' Association." Lindsay658 (talk) 22:02, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So actually it says nothing at all about the business. I don't doubt that he became a photographer, but without any further evidence I've no reason to think that he's in any way more remarkable a photographer than the man who has a little shop down the street from me and will photograph young families in front of an artistically smoky backdrop for prints to thrill the grandparents. Studio photography such as this is an honorable profession and I'm not knocking its practitioners (and neither am I saying that Perry's work is of this kind). But categories such as "[Somewhere] photographers" (or "Photographers from [Somewhere]") are normally reserved for people of some verifiable notability. As a photographer, does Perry have any? -- Hoary (talk) 00:37, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Whilst I can't verify, for example, that he was a foundation member of The Moggs Creek Clickers, for whom "the dark is light enough", and whilst I have no knowledge of whether his studio work was of the calibre of an Athol Shmith, or whether his portraiture was of the standard of a Roy Dunstan, or whether his industrial photography was of the standard of a Wolfgang Sievers, you seem to have some sort of bee in your bonnet about the issue. Perhaps you should just remove the category attribution, and set your mind at ease? Anyway, for me, having seen Mike Perry play football so straightforward and courageously, if Richmond says something is the case, I'm prepared to give Mike Perry the benefit of the doubt. Tuum est (its up to you). Lindsay658 (talk) 01:58, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
But I already removed the category, and somebody else (you?) readded it. If there's more to say about his photography, then I'm all ears. (I have no opinion whatever about football, or indeed advertising.) -- Hoary (talk) 14:33, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
